The main idea and psychological description of the leads
Los Angeles works as the theatrical stage here, and Mr. Face – a professional killer – is the director of this Theater.
Сharacters
MR. FACE IS A MAIN CHARACTER, ANTAGONIST
Mr. Face’s father was a pimp and his mom was his elite fancy girl. Insulted by his parents’ behavior since his childhood becomes a cool killer, but with certain philosophy. In public he performs his plays – per se genius, but bloody.
The essence of Mr. Face’s philosophy: «Earth is Hell which is managed by Mr. Devil. Killing men-stinkers, he releases them from Hell, and deprives Mr. Devil of his servants in a flesh. For the common Good».
The subject is based on this philosophy.
Mr. Face plays off complicated dramatized show, and the end of the show is well-known to him beforehand: he kills as much and as often as he can, throwing light upon his philosophy from different vital points. Actually, the participants of the theatrical show don’t even guess what the future may hold conceal. Everything follows a scenario, bloody «Theater of Mr. Face» isn’t admissive of chance.
Mr. Face uses different methods to involve ordinary people – unprofessional actors in his performances. He is used to play with human weaknesses: vices and thirst for the beautiful, as well as thirst to treacherous lie and easy money. Mr. Face is a genius psychologist, who knows anyone inside out. There are no secrets in human heart for him. He is the puppeteer, tugging the threads, he’s a real thug, but he is a gentleman. Mr. Face is frank in words and actions, and this sincerity allows us to take him as a gentleman, not a scoundrel.
There is Jennifer loved by Mr. Face tenderly and at the same time with brute love. Jennifer doesn’t simply reciprocate his feelings, she’s entirely devoted to Mr. Face – to the marrow of her bones. She is a loving woman.
Mr. Face’s wears a black suit and white shirt without tie. He uses to take the cigarettes out by characteristic gesture – he takes them out of the pack with his lips.
PRINCE of WINDSOR – MAIN CHARACTER, AND THE ONLY PROTAGONIST in «Mr. Face’s Theater».
Philanthrope and eccentric. Travelling incognito all around the world, he earns his money working like mere mortals. In such a way, Prince hopes to understand the Truth of human being.
Prince meets Mr. Face by pure Accident. Mr. Face doesn’t know him to be Prince of Windsor. In the initial collisions of plot someone wants to kill Prince. At that very moment Mr. Face recognizes the Crown Prince and rescues him…
Later, in the plot, Prince plays one of the leading role in «Theater of Mr. Face», without suspicion that the main instrument of Mr. Face – real «Mr. Colt» of 38th caliber. But the true becomes obvious and in a fit of anger, Prince slaps his partner in the face…
Anger is over, Prince analyses all the events been heard and seen in «Theater of Mr. Face». He understands that the real vital sense is hidden in words and actions of Mr. Face, but it is not easy for him to understand it at once.
Then Prince makes a decision to continue and play in this cruel Theater, with the only condition – blood will be no longer shed. Mr. Face understands at once what Prince needs exactly, draws him again to Theater’s performance, protects him from a bloody show. Prince follows to denouement together with Mr. Face…
PATRICK is an INDEPENDENT AUXILIARY CHARACTER. PROTAGONIST, TURNING INTO AN ANTAGONIST.
He is a young man and a devotee. Actually, Patrick is involved into bloody Theater against his will. At first he denies ideas and actions of Mr. Face… Unlike Prince who is looking for social sense of existence, Patrick’s perception is based on theosophical position.
EMMY and VICKY are AUXILIARY CHARACTERS of ANTAGONIST.
Might-nave-been actresses, they are forced to work as prostitutes. Emmy and Vicky get the roles of nuns – without suspicion what is waiting for them. In their perception – it is a chance for them to change.
Emmy is killed. This fact forces Vicky to think, but – she continues the play, thinking that she’s already out of Theater. A comprehension of the fact that everything goes against her will comes to her step by step, in the process of plot development. Vicky changes but it’s too late… Vicky comes to the conclusion: she hates a madly cruel «Theater of Mr. Face», but not him. She realizes – Mr. Face and his Theater are the comprehensive whole, and it can’t be in other way.
12 KILLERS of MR. FACE are AUXILIARY CHARACTERS of ANTAGONIST.
Like Apostles, they help Mr. Face with his bloody Theater during the whole performance. They make short work of cops, choose prostitutes for mortal party, and gather «theatrical corps» all around the town… They work for big money – other philosophy is alien and unacceptable to them. And this is the main reason of their death at the very end of Mr. Face’s show. They are killed by him. Money doesn’t play primary role in «Mr. Face’s Theatre». All of them – 12 guys are high, slender men of 35. They wear black coats, white shirts with red ties.
THE GARDENER is the SPECIAL CHARACTER, he is the Forerunner of Mr. Face’s philosophical world-view.
He is a man of 65, Keeper of Marvelous Divine Garden. A long time ago Mr. Face had conversation with a Gardener. The dialog between them turned Kid Face into Mr. Face and broke his fate. History is opened and closed by a Gardener. It is an episodic, but a key role.
STRUCTURE OF THE SCREENPLAY
The Plot is divided into 2 big Performances: «Gentlemen Club» and «Diamond of Saddam» + Prologue and Finale.
THE PROLOGUE is the key scene of Finale, interweaved with the most important childhood period of Mr. Face’s life (meeting with a Gardener).
The basic theses Mr. Face’s philosophy are stated into the FIRST Performance – against a background of the actions played by him.
The SECOND Performance operates these thesises profs done at the time of theatrical show. Even more, the evidence is provided by life, without direct influence of Mr. Face.
BOTH Performances have the logical final, but they are connected in concept and drama.
THE FINALE draws a line under the concept of «Theater of Mr. Face» and admits its philosophy as it were the only right. At the same time, such Theater drives Gardener – inspirer of Mr. Face – into despair, and his Marvelous Divine Garden blazes.
A spectator faces a philosophical dilemma raised by such Finale: «Is Mr. Face right? Has he understood the Gardener’s words about his destiny correctly?».
Who is right here, who is not – let’s every spectator answer these questions.
ON THE SCREEN WILL BE: tense action, interspersed with black humour, philosophy, theatricalized farce, by unexpected turns and a heap of corps – this is a real «Theater of Mr. Face».
SCENE: Los Angeles – nowadays (with a short insertion dated 1970).
