Людо Мартенс (1946–2011), основатель и руководитель Партии Труда Бельгии, задумывал свою книгу как опровержение «хорошо известных истин» о Сталине, ставших чуть ли не частью подсознания западного человека. Разоблачая мифы о «завещании Ленина», насильственной коллективизации, уничтожении гвардии старых большевиков, сговоре с Гитлером и т. д., бельгийский коммунист утверждает, что сегодня «любая страна может только мечтать о таких достижениях, которые были при Сталине» и что правда о вожде написана кровью героев, избавивших мир от фашистской нечисти.
