Предлагаемая монография — первое отечественное исследование, посвященное одной из наиболее актуальных в современной исторической науке тем — «охоте на ведьм» и «ведьмомании» в Западной Европе, выполненное на английском материале. Книга представляет собой оригинальный взгляд на такое яркое и дискуссионное в истории европейской цивилизации «концепт-явление», как ведовство, через призму восприятия его в английском обществе того времени. Внимание автора сосредоточено на трех основных дискурсах ведовства: официальном, народном и ученом, а также преломлении их в коллективном сознании и повседневных практиках. Это позволило автору взглянуть на ведовство и ведьм в Англии глазами английских современников, располагавшихся на разных ступенях социальной и культурной иерархии. В работе использован обширный материал, источники из собраний европейских, американских и российских библиотек.
