It took me ten days to make the oars with which to row my boat to the port of Blefuscu. A crowd of people had gathered to greet me, full of wonder at such a large boat. I told His Majesty that good fortune had put this boat in my way, to help me return to my native country. I begged him to help me prepare the boat for my journey and to give me permission to leave. This he was pleased to do.
