В книге анализируется ряд ключевых проблем познания в контексте взаимоотношения неклассической и классической эпистемологии. В качестве основного используется коммуникационный подход. Показывается связь современных проблем эпистемологии с рядом актуальных проблем социальной философии, философии культуры (гуманизм, толерантность, плюрализм, критицизм, рациональная дискуссия, вера и знание и др.), философской психологии («внутреннее» и «внешнее», коммуникация и субъективное переживание, сознание и деятельность, сознание и бессознательное и др.). Дается анализ традиционных проблем и принципов эпистемологии в неклассическом ключе. Ряд центральных проблем эпистемологии по сути дела впервые детально анализируются (проблема «Я» и др.). Критически анализируются некоторые догматические стереотипы отечественных исследований в области теории познания (теория отражения, понятие ощущения, восприятия, чувственного познания, сознания и самосознания, разделение субъект-объектных и субъект-субъектных отношений и др.).
