Сегодня внешнеполитический курс президента Джорджа Буша-младшего поддерживают меньше половины жителей США и всего 30 процентов европейцев. И хотя американцы все еще видят свою страну как позитивную силу на мировой арене, но этого мнения, похоже, перестает придерживаться остальной мир.
За последние 15 лет американцы свергли девять свободно избранных правительств, в том числе правительства Афганистана, Гаити, Сербии, Ирака, принося в жертву при этом тысячи жителей этих стран. Возможно ли вытянуть иракцев из двенадцатого века в двадцать первый, или это сплошные политические иллюзии? Нужна ли в послесаддамовском Ираке «зрелая американская демократия»?
