Канон — дар Бога, передающий нам Его самооткровение. И постольку, поскольку канон — это всего лишь книга, которую мы держим в руках, самооткровение Бога не так просто понять и принять, поскольку речь идет об очень личностных и межличностных отношениях, не сводимых ни к каким формулам. Относясь к Библии серьезно, мы должны считаться с ее ясным учением, отражающим волю ГОСПОДА, но все–таки мы должны осознавать, что окончательная ясность этого учения постоянно ускользает от нас, поскольку Бог, в которого мы верим, остается сокрытым, даже раскрываясь.
В заключение можно сказать, что Библия не дает уверенности, подобной той, которую можно найти в современном технически развитом обществе. Библия говорит о верности ГОСПОДА, о верности настойчивой, требовательной, преобразующей. Поэтому изучение Библии оказывается рискованным предприятием, способным изменить жизнь человека. Странная верность Бога не безусловна. Она обретается только через жизнь в соответствии с требованиями Единого, описанными в тексте. Чтение Библии — не простое занятие. Напротив, оно требует длительных усилий, приложенных с доверчивой простотой, и пристального, критического внимания. Раймонд Браун замечательно охарактеризовал процесс чтения Библии:
В конце концов, читая Священное Писание, мы находимся в доме Отца, внутри которого детям позволено играть
(Brown 1955, 28).Согласно протестантской традиции богословской интерпретации, Церковь постоянно преображается. Одна из сторон этого процесса — перечитывание Писания, поскольку преображение и перечитывание неотделимы друг от друга. Ради благополучия Церкви и успеха ее миссии христиане постоянно размышляют над Писанием… исполненные доверия, критики, послушания и надежды.
