Генерал Ф. Дэвидсон в своей книге приводит несколько другую трактовку обсуждения вопроса об американском участии во французской войне в Индокитае. Он пишет: «Даллеса не только не пугала идея Рэдфорда о нанесении бомбардировщиками В-29 ударов по войскам Зиапа под Дьен Бьен Фу, он даже считал это полумерами и выдвигал долгосрочный план, предусматривавший создание международной организации по недопущению захвата Юго-Восточной Азии коммунистами. Вице-президент Никсон также поддерживал «VULTURE», но проявлял больше «кровожадности», откровенности и реализма, чем даже адмирал Рэдфорд. Он выражал готовность поддержать ввод американских сухопутных сил во Вьетнам в случае неудачи бомбового удара, тогда как Рэдфорд старательно избегал ответа на этот важный и очень щекотливый вопрос». – См.
