Монография выдающегося историка моды, профессора Эдинбургского университета Кристофера Бруарда «Модный Лондон. Одежда и современный мегаполис» представляет собой исследование модной географии Лондона, истории его отдельных районов, модных типов (денди и актриса, тедди-бой и студент) и магазинов. Автор исходит из положения, что рождение и развитие моды невозможно без города, и выстраивает свой анализ на примере Лондона, который стал площадкой для формирования дендистского стиля и пережил стремительный индустриальный рост в XIX веке, в том числе в производстве одежды. В XX веке именно Лондон превратился в настоящую субкультурную Мекку, что окончательно утвердило его в качестве одной из важнейших мировых столиц моды наряду с Парижем, Миланом и Нью-Йорком.
