В книге исследуется история трансатлантической европейско-американской работорговли — насильственного вывоза невольников-африканцев на плантации и рудники Америки и Вест-Индии, начавшегося в 1442 г. и продолжавшегося почти до конца XIX в. Рассказывается о развитии работорговли и способах захвата африканцев в рабство, о продаже их европейцам, выявляются причины запрещения работорговли в начале XIX в.
