Только пирамида Хеопса состоит из 6,3 миллиона тонн вырубленного в карьерах и искусно разрезанного камня. Пирамиды Мемфисского некрополя в Западной пустыне около Каира состоят из 25 миллионов тонн добытого в карьерах камня. Стоунхендж в Англии состоит из 10 000 тонн грубо обработанного камня, то есть для строительства египетских пирамид было использовано в 2500 раз больше камня, чем для Стоунхенджа, а Великая пирамида в 600 раз массивнее Стоунхенджа.
