Джон Гай - Елизавета. Золотой век Англии краткое содержание
Крупнейший специалист по истории Тюдоров, Джон Гай использовал множество письменных источников, часть из которых исследовалась впервые (в особенности рукописные государственные документы, касающиеся отношений между Англией и другими европейскими державами). Проработаны также около 30 неопубликованных писем самой Елизаветы, черновики и дневниковые записи, отражающие ее внутренний мир, сохранившие ее мысли и эмоции — все то, что не было и не могло быть отражено в официальных источниках. Те документы, которые исследователи прежде использовали в переводах, Гай стремился найти в оригинале. Именно в этом и заключается главная особенность книги, отличающая ее от всех остальных рассказов о Елизаветинской эпохе — Золотом веке в истории Англии.
