Фигура Иуды Фомы, претендовавшего на звание духовного близнеца Христа и проповедовавшего за Евфратом, переворачивает традиционное представление о христианстве как о вере, развивавшейся в пределах Римской империи. А фигура Иоанна Крестителя – религиозно-политического лидера невероятного авторитета и мощи – принципиально меняет представления о времени и причине возникновения гностицизма.
