The best way I can tell you what really happened is to take you some miles away to where the Hermit of the Southern March sat gazing into the smooth pool beneath the spreading tree, with Bree and Hwin and Aravis beside him. | Увидев, что в него летит копье, он наклонился вбок и соскользнул с коня, и ударился о чей-то доспех, и... | If only the wind would catch that standard and spread it out. They're over the ridge now, whoever they are. Aha! I've seen the banner now. | А. вижу, знамя с алым львом! |

| They're in full career down the hill now. I can see King Edmund. | Вот и король Эдмунд. |
| There's a woman behind among the archers. Oh! -" "What is it?" asked Hwin breathlessly. "All his Cats are dashing out from the left of the line." "Cats?" said Aravis. | И королева Люси, и лучники... и коты! - Коты? -переспросила Аравита. - Да, боевые коты. |
| "Great cats, leopards and such," said the Hermit impatiently. | Леопарды, барсы; пантеры. |

| The Cats are coming round in a circle to get at the horses of the dismounted men. A good stroke. The Calormene horses are mad with terror already. Now the Cats are in among them. | Тархистанские кони мечутся. Коты вцепились в них. |

| They're riding to meet the Narnians. There's only a hundred yards between the two lines now. Only fifty. I can see King Edmund, I can see the Lord Peridan. | It's mere murder sending a child into the battle; he can't live five minutes. | Он и пяти минут не продержится. |

| "Killed?" asked three voices breathlessly. | - Убит? - спросили все трое сразу. |
| "How can I tell?" said the Hermit. | - Не знаю, - отвечал отшельник. |
| "The Cats have done their work. | - Коты свое дело сделали. |
| All the riderless horses are dead or escaped now: no retreat for the Calormenes on them. | Коней у тархистанцев теперь нет - кто погиб, кто убежал. |
| Now the Cats are turning back into the main battle. | А коты опять бросаются в бой! |
| They're leaping on the rams-men. | Они прыгнули на спину этим, с тараном. |
| The ram is down. Oh, good! good! | Таран лежит на земле... Ах, хорошо! |
